Service Guide

Clutch replacement

A worn clutch disk will cause the clutch to slip. Worn pressure plate can cause the same effect. Other components can cause clutch problems too, and almost always require transmission removal to replace. Clutch contamination can also occur from a leaking engine rear main seal and leads again to full clutch service.

Timing service

Timing belt replacement is a mandatory for all belt-driven engines at intervals of 100,000 miles, generally. It’s important to replace timing components (pulleys and tensioners) in order to ensure reliability for the next 100,000 miles. This is also a good time to replace any leaking, or potentially leaking camshaft or crankshaft seals, as they will be exposed during service.

Suspension and steering

Noisy wheel bearings, clunking or weak struts, broken sway bar links are a nuisance, but left long enough, they can become a danger. Ball joints and tie rod ends are especially important to monitor as your vehicle ages. We’ll ‘shake down’ your suspension with any inspection or service to verify the integrity of your suspension and notify you of any issues.

Brake service

Proper service of brakes begins with quality brake pad and rotor replacement. We will remove rust from components that can cause parts to bind, resulting in abnormal wear. Checking hoses and calipers is important and should not be overlooked. We’ll replace rusted brake lines, too, with straight, ununionized segments made of nickle-copper alloy to eliminate rust problems thereon.

Fluid service

Brake fluid is highly susceptible to contamination from moisture in the air. Moisture in brake fluid can cause seals to swell, which can alter the operation of the braking system and lead to failure or leakage of components. Transmission and differential fluid wears over time just like engine oil, and requires periodic replacement to prevent transmission damage. We use factory-specific fluids that are compatible with your vehicles’ materials.
